Weingut Allram Grauburgunder Reserve 2020

We were instantly impressed by this wine in a blind tasting. With his Reserve, Lorenz Allram shows that he can do great things with Burgundian grapes. Alongside the Riesling Heiligenstein, this wine is the winery's flagship.

After 12 months in a barrique barrel, the wine is still quite young. However, it is already showing what it can do. After a little air in the glass, a fine roasted aroma from the wooden barrel and the scent of freshly roasted hazelnuts fill the air. On the palate, we also find this wonderful hazelnut note. The whole thing is paired with a little banana and nougat. This nougat touch is rarely found in white wines. Despite the strength, it also has a delicate flavour and subtle minerality. This is a very young wine that's at the beginning of its development and can easily be stored for 15-20 years.

Pairs very well with porcini mushrooms, truffle dishes and beef. Or simply as a red wine substitute on cold days. If you haven't tried it, you're missing out.
