Weingut Ernst Triebaumer Blaufränkisch Oberer Wald 2019

After the Mariental vineyard, Oberer Wald is one of the most special and largest vineyards in Rust on Neusiedlersee. And Ernst Triebaumer or ET the extraterrestrial (as he is often affectionately called) shows with these Blaufränkisch how expressive and yet light-footed red wines from this area can be. Falstaff and A la Carte give it extremely high awards of 95 and 96 points, respectively. They deserve great praise!

The grapes were selectively picked by hand, gently pressed and then allowed to mature in barrique barrels for a good 16 months. The wine of these expressive, concentrated grapes shows itself in a light-footed balance between juicy sour cherries, spice and minerality. A true expression of the vineyard from vines over 70 years old! Even in its current youth, the wine is very accessible on the palate without sacrificing its maturity potential!
