Description

This is the stuff red wine dreams are made of - heavy metal on the palate combined with the sounds of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra!

Hardly any other Austrian red wine has caused such enthusiasm for the past 30 years. Steinzeiler is a cult wine and the 2015 vintage is now a limited rarity! The wine gets its name from the stony, calcareous soils of the Leitha Mountains. Vines have been growing in these vineyards for 2,800 years!

It is made of 80% Blaufränkisch and 10% each of Cabernet Sauvignon and Zweigelt, and is aged in small French oak barrels for 30 months. This results in power with elegance and charm. The superlative 2015 vintage is still young, but is slowly becoming ready to drink. Decant 1-2 hours beforehand. Then it will show its best side.
Silky, delicately supple and yet powerful. Lots of ripe tannins with perfectly integrated wood. Dark fruits with an inviting fruity sweetness. Totally balanced. The finish feels infinite. A powerful red wine that is almost perfect and can continue to mature until 2040.
