Description
For more than 4 centuries, Gosset has shaped a style that celebrates the art of living! The oldest wine house in Champagne was founded in 1584!
Around 1760, Jean Gosset first used what has now become a trademark of his family winery: The antique flask. This extremely elegant, distinctive bottle with rounded sides was once part of the family's collection. These days, the bottle is used exclusively for the Grand Reserves and each one is a faithful replica, absolutely unique and instantly recognisable.
This Grand Reserve Brut is the flagship of the house and has embodied the pure style of Gosset for over 30 years. The basic cuvée consists of 45% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Noir and 10% Pinot Meunier. It was disgorged on the yeast after more than 4 years. An 8 g/l dosage (sweet wine) was chosen to maintain the balance between freshness, fruitiness and acidity. The dosage is not predetermined, but based entirely on the style of the house. Cellar master Odilon de Varine is primarily looking for freshness in champagne, with lots of volume on the palate, white flowers that melt creamily on the tongue and fresh citrus fruit aromas. The wine lingers on the palate and makes many other Grand Cru champagnes seem pale and stuffy.
It's perfect for every occasion and will convert non-champagne drinkers. Multi-layered and full of tension whilst remaining sweet and powerful. Great with scampi, oysters, tapas or poultry, and especially cheese.
