Description

The Maulwurf is a bold red wine cuvee from Rust on Lake Neusiedl. It is cuvee of local Blaufränkisch with a little Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. After ageing in 500-litre oak barrels, the Maulwurf never stays true to its origins, but also skilfully demonstrates its international class - and we like that.

Ripe, dark flavours of sweet cherries with a hint of cassis and delicate herbal spice. Every sip is varied and full of finesse. Warm, with a slightly salty finish (from the younger Blaufränkisch Mariental vineyards), it leads into a hint of dark chocolate. Juicy and obliging, it is an elegant wine that is a true pleasure to drink. Great ageing potential of 10 yearsof more.
