Planeta Merlot Sito dell’Ulmo Menfi DOC 2016, 0,75 L

Planeta is not just any winery; it's the family that has made Sicilian wines internationally renowned. One of their standout contributions is the Merlot "Sito dell Ulmo," crafted from the best Bordeaux clones. Planted in 1987, the vineyard is located about 200 meters above sea level in the island's west.

For the 2016 vintage, the wine was initially matured in steel tanks before spending at least 14 months ageing in barriques. In the glass, it appears deep, dark, and almost opaque.

On the nose, you'll find aromas of blackcurrant and other dark fruits, with delicate roasted flavours and a hint of lavender. Despite the barrique ageing, the wine remains quite fresh. On the palate, it delivers impressive power and flavour, filling the mouth while maintaining a balanced profile with harmonious acidity and ripe tannins.
