Description

2 x 96 points Blaufränkisch from a top winery on the Leithaberg - one of the best of its kind!

Ried Point was mentioned in a document as early as 1570 and has been owned by the Kollwentz family since 1848. Year after year, the south-facing vineyard produces a small harvest on calcareous clay soil and a red wine that's full of character. It's had 30 months in new barriques and we'd recommend decanting the wine whilst it's still young. Do so and you'll be rewarded with soft tannins. Lots of juice and pressure shape the palate. It's a lot of fun and still shows its mighty size. Aromas of blackberries and the fruity sweetness call for another sip, which then feels like it lasts for half an eternity. WOW - Blaufränkisch can be so beautiful!

An enormous storage potential of a good 20 years and more. But who could resist it for so long?
