This is a red wine that does not need an introduction in Austria. Hochberc has become an icon - with consistently top quality and enormous ageing potential; a benchmark for a Blaufränkisch wine. And no, it's not a typo. The Hochberg vineyard in Deutschkreutz used to be spelt with a "c" at the end and Albert Gesellmann has chosen to stay with the old name, making it a unique selling point.

From the finely balanced 2021 vintage and still young. After 40 days on the skins, the Blaufränkisch was allowed to mature for 30 months in 500-litre oak barrels. It is still a little too young and with its enormous ageing potential, at the beginning of its long journey to its peak. But it is already perfectly balanced between fruity sweetness and acidity, an incredible arc of tension on the palate! Delicately salty, with notes of chocolate in the lingering finish.
