Weingut Gesellmann Opus Eximium No.31 Double 2018 Magnum

With the 2018 vintage, Albert Gesellmann's benchmark Opus Eximium reached its 31 year anniversary. This popular red wine cuvée is a fixed star in the red wine sky and is made from Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt and some St. Laurent. Aged for 18 months in used small barriques and stored for another 3 months in large wooden barrels after blending, it's now ready to show its skills in the glass.

On the nose, it presents itself with a delicate smoky-spice underlaid ripe blackberry fruit and a fine nougat touch. What the nose promises is maintained on the palate: Juicy, ripe cherries with fine tannins and fresh wild berry jam. Stays in the finish for a long time and makes you want more. A real Austrian red wine classic that pairs well with beef, juicy steaks or heavily braised meat. But this wine will enrich any celebration.

It could be stored for another 10 years or more - but who wants to wait?
