Cava is probably the most underrated sparkling wine region in Europe. Many products are known, if at all, as "cheap soda" from the supermarket, but this region on the border with France has a long tradition of sparkling wine production.

Don Román Reserva Imperial shows that a full-blown cava can definitely compete with the top competitors. Traditional bottle fermentation, extra brut, i.e. little added sugar, make the wine a great choice.

The nose is dominated by a wonderful aroma of brioche, orange zest and fresh yellow fruits. The chalky soils contribute to the creamy texture, so that the wine hugs the palate wonderfully. Very fine, silky perlage - very elegant, really great cava. The finish is long and persistent, while the great acidity calls for the next sip.

Please do not drink from a champagne flute or a glass that is too small; this is serious wine and requires a large glass with a lot of volume.
